Patrick Shearer is the Chief Constable of Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary. Patrick Shearer took up post as Chief Constable of Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary on Monday 14 May 2007.Mr Shearer has served in a variety of roles during his time in Grampian Police, including several general and specialist areas. He has also worked in the CID, Drug Squad and has experience leading major enquiries such as being the Mutual Aid Co ordinator for the G8 Summit.He was also one of the first officers to qualify for and participate in the Scottish Strategic Command Course.He was appointed Deputy Chief Constable of Grampian Police in January 2005 and since May 2006 has been Chair of the ACPOS Performance Management Development Sub Group.In 2004 Mr Shearer was appointed Chair of the Scottish Intelligent Database SID, having been involved with the project since its inception. The project brought about the introduction of a single intelligence database for the Scottish police service.Patrick Shearer is a native of Moray and was brought up in the North East of Scotland. He graduated from Aberdeen University and holds an Arts degree and a Law degree. He has been a police officer since 1983.Mr Shearer is married with two children and enjoys sport.
