Tayside Police
John Vine is the Chief Constable of Tayside Police . Mr John Vine was appointed Chief Constable for Tayside Police in November 2000.Chief Constable Vine joined West Yorkshire Police in March 1981. He served in a number of operational roles before assuming the role of commander of the Halifax Division in 1992.Following completion of the Strategic Command Course, he was appointed Assistant Chief Constable in Lancashire Police in 1996, where he had responsibility for Divisional policing, specialist units and the investigation of major crime. In 1998 he assumed responsibility for Human Resources and Force Training and in 2000 for Corporate Development.Mr Vine completed his year as President of the Association of Chief Police Officers Scotland ACPOS in June 2004, and he presently Chairs the ACPOS Road Policing and Operational Policing Business Areas.In 2005, Mr Vine led the policing arrangements for the G8 World Leaders Summit at Gleneagles.In 2007, Mr Vine was appointed as one of two Chief Constables' representatives on the board of the Scottish Police Services Authority SPSA and currently holds the position of Vice Chair.Mr Vine, who holds an Honours Degree in Law, an MSc in Strategic Human Resource Management and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, was awarded the Queen's Police Medal in 2002 for distinguished Police Service. He was awarded the CBE in the 2007 Queen's Birthday Honours for services to policing.
