Julia Hodson is the Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police. Before joining the Police Service, Ms Julia Hodson spent four years in the legal department of Derbyshire County Council. She has an LL.B Sheffield, an MA in Crime Deviance and Social Policy J. Moores University, Lancaster and a Post Graduate Diploma in counselling.Julia joined Merseyside Police in 1982 where she served in a number of operational and departmental posts, rising to the rank of Chief Inspector.She joined Greater Manchester Police in 1995 on promotion to Superintendent, initially as head of Corporate Development and later holding positions as Sub divisional Commander at Wythenshawe and as head of the Contingency Planning Section. In 1998, she became a Chief Superintendent in charge of Greater Manchester Police’s Wigan Division.Julia joined the Chief Officer team at Lancashire as the Assistant Chief Constable responsible for Human Resources, Training and Professional Standards, at the beginning of January 2000.From November 2002 she was the Assistant Chief Constable in charge of the Operational Policing of Lancashire, with responsibility for all local policing divisions and operational support functions. In February 2005 she became the Acting Deputy Chief Constable of the Lancashire Constabulary.Julia joined West Yorkshire Police on 14 November 05 taking up the post of Deputy Chief Constable. She served as Acting Chief Constable between September 06 and January 07.
